  1. Is the Stamp collection available for display? Are there several Fabian De la Rosa pieces on display? I am a UP alumnus but have not visited the Philippines in 40 yrs and would like to visit your museum in Mid December 2018, I own an original Fabian De la Rosa ing given to me my grandmother.

Ties of History exhibition is on its sixth week at UP Vargas Museum. Here is an image of Singaporean artist Amanda Heng's Walking the Stool (1999-2000) installed at the 3F South Wing Gallery of the museum. In 1997, Heng was awarded a studio in Telak Kurau by the National Arts Council (NAC). She was the only woman artist given a studio by the NAC. When Heng confronted the NAC about this, the NAC told her that there were no other women artists. Around the same time, performance art was proscribed in Singapore following what was deemed an indecent performance by Josef Ng in which the artist snipped his pubic hair in public. This prompted the government to desist from funding other performance projects. Walking the Stool is Heng’s response to these events. As a performative gesture, Heng got a stool from her studio, attached to it a chain, and walked the stool in her studio’s neighborhood. Photo: Lea Marie Diño
