  1. Good evening,

May I ask if the Vargas Museum basement is open for rental? If so, may I ask for the rates?

    Thank you!

  2. I don’t know if I missed looking at the schedules. What are the business hours of Vargas? Is it open Saturdays? Hours? A friend and I plan to visit tomorrow and we are both taking our time off from work. We have not visited UP for years now.

    Thank you!

    Pam

  8. Good day!

May I ask if Vargas Museum is accepting requests for it to be a venue for an educational field trip? The local state university, in which I was formerly employed in, is hoping to make Vargas Museum part of their itinerary during one of their educational field trips this August 2012. They are planning to send a request letter probably within the week. They’ve approached me to inquire about said concern because I’m an alumnus of the College of Arts and Letters.

Hoping to hear from you regarding the aforementioned concern.

Thank you very much and more power!

    Sincerely,

    KHC

  13. Dear Dr Flores,

Ms Meah See of Bahay Tsinoy would like to bring her students (high school) there for a tour. She was wondering if the Vargas Museum can also give a talk on art as it reflects history, especially Philippine history. Ms See recalls seeing a timeline of Philippine art in one of the galleries there. Her contact details are meahsee@gmail.com and 09178226324.

Thank you in advance for the assistance.

    Sincerely,

    Mary Ann Josette E. Pernia

3:00pm - FROM NATURE TO ARCHITECTURE: Gaudi's Sagrada Familia with Ar. Choie Funk

Free and open to the public, limited slots. Pre-register via vargasmuseum@gmail.com.
The story of Gaudi's life speaks of the mystery of all exceptional talent with which every human being could be endowed. Coupling this notion with that particular era during which he was born, Gaudi's whole work was an expression of a period. The Basílica de la Sagrada Família, as with his other works, spans realities of the 19th century straight through the 21st, as we expect its completion in 2026. The 2018 Summer Art Workshops by Fernando B. Sena resume on 10 April. Registration is ongoing. The workshops are for kids (8+), teens, and adults.

Schedule: Every Tuesday
9-11:30am (Beginner)
2:30-5pm (Advanced)

Each level is a total of eight sessions.

For details, please contact Mr. Sena at 376-2196 or 0918-951-9989 or the Vargas (Glenn/Linda) at 928-1927 during office hours. #drawing #painting #stilllife #portraiture #landscape #figures #Repost @heyhaselyn:

21 February 2018, Wednesday at 10am | 3F Galleries, Vargas Museum
Pre-registration encouraged, limited seats: vargasmuseum@gmail.com
Free and open to the public

Vargas Museum invites everyone to the activities for the Beyond Myself exhibition currently on view at the 3F Galleries. Organized by the Vargas, Scalabrini Migration Center Philippines, and UP Department of Political Science, the activities happen at 10am on Wednesday, 21 February 2018.

Nathalie Dagmang initiates the discussion of Beyond Myself and her art practice by walking the participants through the exhibition. Dagmang created several works in 2017 for the first Beyond Myself exhibition held at Goldsmiths, University of London. As an active agent for the workshops held in London through the Curating Development project, she was able to share materials, reinterpret archives, and create art through interactions with the migrant workers and organizations.

The second part is a conversation with Dr. Anju Mary Paul, author of Multinational Maids: Stepwise Migration in a Global Labour Market. “Multinational" mobility is not restricted to the global elite. Drawing upon surveys with more than 1,000 Filipino and Indonesian migrant domestic workers in Singapore and Hong Kong, and in-depth interviews with well over 200 of these workers in Singapore, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Canada, and the United States, Dr. Paul documents how some migrant domestic workers are agentically adopting stepwise international labor migration as part of long-term mobility projects for themselves and their families. She lays out the building blocks that have led to the emergence of this global phenomenon, highlighting similar patterns of stepwise migration among other migrant groups, including migrant nurses, IT professionals, foreign academics, and international students.
