Junior Museum Guides 2014 Year 9

The UP Vargas Museum joins the world in celebrating 2014 International Museum Day by holding a two-week intensive museum training for children. This year, the highlight of the workshop will be the Museum Collection. ICOM’s International Museum Day Theme for this year is “Museum Collections make connections.”

WHO CAN JOIN: Kids ages 8-12 years old

SCHEDULE AND VENUE: May 13-16, 20-23, 2014 (TUE-FRI) 1:00 – 5:00 pm South Wing Gallery (3F)

REGISTRATION FEE: Php 4,000.00 (inclusive of workshop kits, art materials and snacks) Pre-registration required until MAY 8

WHAT WILL BE LEARNED: Basic museum practices: Documentation, Art and Artifact Handling, Conservation and Docenting

HANDS-ON ART ACTIVITIES: Drawing, Comics-making and Soft Sculpture

Culminating Activity (Graduation and exhibit opening) May 24 (Saturday)

About Jorge B. Vargas Museum

It aims to preserve its collection donated by Jorge B. Vargas and conducts research, exhibitions, publications, and educational programs. The Vargas Museum and Filipiniana Research Center houses a museum, archives, and library devoted to the Philippine history, art, and culture from the late 19th century until the post-war era. Its main beneficiaries are students, faculty, researchers and scholars of the Philippines and Asia.
